Go Off the Green on Our Career Treks
The Center for Career Design is excited to bring undergraduate students off the green on Career Treks: short group trips to select cities to tour employer sites and engage with industry professionals and alumni.
Quick Facts
- Open to all students, with priority for undergraduates. Spots are competitive and limited, and selection includes a brief virtual interview (about 10 minutes). More details for each trek, including a rough schedule, application deadlines, and a full description, are in the accordion below.
- Time commitment varies. Some treks are day trips and others include an overnight stay. Assess your own availability before applying.
- What’s included: Overnight stays and meals with employers.
- Participation fee: $30 for day trips and $60 for any trip with an overnight stay. Waived for students on financial aid.
- Financial aid: On top of the waived fee, students on financial aid are eligible for a travel award to cover costs that aren’t directly included, such as travel to and from the city. To confirm eligibility, we’ll ask your permission during the application to check your aid status with the Financial Aid Office. They tell us only whether you receive aid (yes or no), and we collect no other details.

The Center for Career Design is excited to introduce Off the Green: Advertising, Marketing, and Communications Trek to New York City! Over two days of employer visits (including NBCUniversal, NBC Sports, Conde Nast, PepsiCo, and Lippincott), students will connect with alumni and employers through immersive site visits across NYC’s communications economy, with potential visits spanning global agencies, major media and publishing houses, cultural institutions, and the in-house marketing teams of leading brands. Along the way, students will engage directly with industry professionals and gain firsthand insight into the diverse, evolving career paths within the advertising, marketing, and communications industries. Trek Schedule
- Wed., October 7th is a travel day. We advise taking the 2:30 PM Dartmouth Coach to NYC, the latest bus available that day. You’re welcome to travel however you wish (other buses, flights, and so on), as long as you arrive in NYC that evening, ready to start early the next morning.
- The trek takes place Thur., October 8th to Fri., October 9th, with a full slate of employer visits each day.
- Students depart late afternoon on Fri., October 9th. We recommend the 4:30 PM Dartmouth Coach out of NYC.

Selection Process
- Virtual 10-minute interviews will be conducted as part of the selection process.
Costs & Funding
- Fee: $60, non-refundable. Waived for students who receive financial aid.
- Travel to and from NYC: Your responsibility, estimated at about $250 (Dartmouth Coach tickets plus local transit to and from the hotel). Students who receive financial aid receive a $250 travel award, so travel is effectively free.
- Covered by the Center for Career Design: Hotel and meals with employers.

The Center for Career Design is excited to introduce Off the Green: Non-profits & Education! Students will connect with alumni and employers across the non-profit and education sectors (including Massachusetts State Senator John Keenan’s office), with potential visits spanning educational institutions, non-profit organizations, and mission-driven employers. Along the way, students will engage directly with professionals in the field and gain firsthand insight into diverse, evolving career paths. Full details coming soon.

- Arrive in Boston by 11:30 AM (8:40 AM Dartmouth Coach recommended)
- Afternoon Employer visits with lunch included
- Depart from Boston by 6:00 PM (Dartmouth Coach available at 6:30 PM, 7:30 PM, and 9:30 PM from South Station)

Students will connect with alumni and employers across the life sciences sector (including B-FLEXION and the Broad Institute), with potential visits spanning biotech, academic medical and research institutions, and strategy consulting firms. The Center for Career Design is excited to introduce Off the Green: Policy & Impact, a career trek to Washington, D.C.! Over two and a half days of immersive site visits, students will connect with alumni and employers across the policy and public impact landscape. Potential stops include federal agencies and congressional and oversight bodies, think tanks, international organizations, and policy advocacy nonprofits. Along the way, students will gain firsthand insight into diverse, evolving career paths. Specific employer stops will be confirmed soon—stay tuned for more details!
Trek schedule
- Tues., December 1st is a travel day. You’re welcome to travel however you wish (trains, buses, flights, and so on), as long as you arrive in Washington DC that evening, ready to start early the next morning.
- Wed., December 2nd, full day of employer visits
- Thu., December 3rd, full day of employer visits, culminating in an alumni and student reception co-hosted with the Rockefeller Center.
- Fri., December 4th, half day of employer visits in the morning and students depart mid afternoon

- Travel to and from D.C.: Your responsibility. Students who receive financial aid can book through Altour with costs covered by us, so travel is effectively free.

Over two days of employer visits, students will connect with alumni and employers through immersive site visits across Boston’s technology sector, with potential visits spanning software, fintech, and consumer tech companies, corporate and academic research labs, and professional services firms, with a strong thread of data and applied AI throughout.Along the way, students will gain firsthand insight into diverse, evolving career paths. - Wed., March 17th is a travel day. You’re welcome to travel however you wish (trains, buses, flights, and so on), as long as you arrive in Boston that evening, ready to start early the next morning.
- Thu., March 18th full day of employer visits.
- Fri., March 19th, full day of employer visits that wrap up late afternoon. Students will be free to depart by 5pm at the latest.

Open to all students. Undergraduate students are given priority.

Costs & Funding
- Fee: $60, non-refundable. Waived for students who receive financial aid.
- Travel to and from Boston: Your responsibility, estimated at about $70 (Dartmouth Coach tickets plus local transit to and from the hotel). Students who receive financial aid receive a $100 travel award, so travel is effectively free.

Over two days of immersive site visits, students will connect with alumni and employers across NYC’s finance and consulting sectors, with potential stops spanning global firms and smaller boutique shops. This trip is a great fit for students exploring these fields and looking to build connections—particularly those who haven’t yet had many opportunities to meet employers in these sectors. - Wed., May 5th is a travel day. We advise taking the 2:30 PM Dartmouth Coach to NYC, the latest bus available that day. You’re welcome to travel however you wish (other buses, flights, and so on), as long as you arrive in NYC that evening, ready to start early the next morning.

The Center for Career Design is excited to introduce Off the Green: Arts & Creatives, a career trek to New York City! Over two days of immersive site visits, students will connect with alumni and employers across NYC’s creative economy, with potential stops spanning major media companies, nonprofit arts organizations, and independent creative spaces. Along the way, students will gain firsthand insight into diverse, evolving career paths. The trek will culminate in our third annual Dartmouth Creatives Networking Symposium in partnership with the HOP. Stay tuned for more details as employer stops are confirmed!

- Fri., May 14th, morning, is dedicated to travel. We advise taking the 6:30am Dartmouth Coach to NYC, the earliest bus available that day. You’re welcome to travel however you wish (other buses, flights, and so on), as long as you arrive at the hotel by 12:00 PM.
- Fri., May 14th, afternoon, will be focused on visits with employers and local alumni. Lunch will be provided at our first stop.
- Sat., May 15th, morning, Dartmouth Creatives Networking Symposium which will conclude by 12:30 PM. We advise taking the 1:30 PM Dartmouth Coach back to Hanover. You’re welcome to travel however you wish (other buses, flights, and so on).
