Two weeks, every Career Community, one Career Design Quest

Whether you’re a first year or a senior, the first two weeks of fall term are all about launch: kicking off the academic year, starting classes, and reconnecting with or meeting friends! To celebrate, the Center for Career Design is hosting Launch, a series of events aimed at helping you connect with our Center, find your people, and have fun! Here’s how it works:

What’s Going On?

Start the term by mentoring each other. Grab two friends (or make some) and rotate through a speed-mentoring round in trios—one asks, one answers, one observes—then swap until you’ve been in every seat. Prompt cards guide each round and are matched to your year: explore what’s out there, or sharpen your internship-and-job search. Career & Life Design Coaches will be available, and snacks will also be provided! Drop by whenever and stay as long as you like.

Start the year strong with your Arts & Creative Career Community! Meet your Career & Life Design Coach, Chris Jordan, alongside representatives from the Hopkins Center and the Hood Museum, and discover the opportunities and off-campus treks lined up for the year. Snacks, drinks, and prizes provided! The first 30 students who attend get a free T-shirt.

Do good and go green with your Good & Green Career Community. Meet your Career & Life Design Coach, Brandon Green, joined by representatives from the Sustainability Office, the Irving Institute, and the Dartmouth Center for Social Impact (DCSI), and learn about campus opportunities and this year’s off-campus treks. Snacks, drinks, and prizes provided! The first 30 students who attend get a free T-shirt.

Swing by the Center for Career Design’s block party across McNutt and Mass Row to get to know your Career & Life Design Coaches, jump into activities, and win prizes:

  • Design your own bracelet at the bead station
  • Grab a professional headshot at the photo booth
  • Have your career fortune told by our peer coaches
  • Test your skills in the career hacky sack keep-up challenge
  • Cool off with free ice cream from Sisters of Anarchy and a fun mocktail

Start the year strong with your Government, Law & Policy Career Community. Meet your Career & Life Design Coach, Taylor Pichette, alongside representatives from other campus partners, and learn about campus opportunities and this year’s off-campus treks. Snacks, drinks, and prizes provided! The first 30 students who attend get a free T-shirt.

Start the year strong with your STEM+ Career Community! Meet your Career & Life Design Coach, Colin Roberts, joined by representatives from the Edge Consortium, Dartmouth NEXT, and the Magnuson Center, and discover campus opportunities and this year’s off-campus treks. Snacks, drinks, and prizes provided! The first 30 students who attend get a free T-shirt.

Start the year strong with your Business Career Community. Meet your Career & Life Design Coach, Meghan Brandow, and get the lay of the land: campus opportunities, the finance and consulting application timelines you’ll want on your radar, and this year’s off-campus treks. Snacks, drinks, and prizes provided! The first 30 students who attend get a free T-shirt.

Searching for an internship or a full-time job after graduation? Don’t miss Dartmouth’s Fall Career Fairs. Over two days, you’ll have the chance to connect in person with top employers eager to meet Dartmouth students. Attend one or both fairs and stop by whenever works best for your schedule!
